About Us

  • What is Expanded Learning?
According to the California Department of  Education, “Expanded Learning refers to before and after school, summer, and intersession learning experiences that develop the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of students. Expanded Learning should be hands-on, engaging, student-centered, results-driven, involve community partners, and complement learning activities in the regular school day/year."

The purpose of the Encore: ASES learning program is to provide children in grades TK-8th with a safe and nurturing environment that focuses on academic and enrichment opportunities for the whole child.  Recreation and education experiences are designed to have carryover value that provides intrinsic protective factors and support the development of resiliency skills.  Children will have a myriad of possibilities investigating the arts, math, science, social engagement and other curricula.  Through active participation, children will learn to make appropriate choices during their leisure time.  The goal of the program is to expand the learning environment and link activities to areas of study at school.

We have Encore: ASES located on the following school campuses: Commonwealth, Ladera Vista, Maple, Nicolas, Orangethorpe, Pacific Drive, Raymond, Richman, Valencia Park, and Woodcrest Elementary Schools.

Our programs offer after-school care which begins at school dismissal and runs until 6:00 pm (6:30pm at Ladera Vista and Nicolas).

ASES Grant

  • The After-School Education and Safety Expanded Learning Program is a grant-funded program through the CA Department of Education, Expanded Learning Division. We are required to engage in CQI- Continuous Quality Improvement, where we collect feedback from our program stakeholders.

Community Partnership

  • The Fullerton School District partners with Community-Based Organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Fullerton, Higher Ground, and OC United to offer ASES at specific school sites.

ELO-P Grant

  • The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) offers funding for afterschool and summer enrichment for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. ELO-P is geared towards students qualifying for free/reduced meals, facing housing instability, English Language Learners, or foster youth, aiming to provide equitable educational experiences beyond the regular school day.
