The Festo lab is important to FSD students in that industry level machinery and experience is provided for students that would otherwise never have seen before. The partnership with Festo has allowed students to learn through project based learning and experience 15 different modules related to manufacturing and production. This program will continue to provide cutting edge technology and high interest curriculum for students at Nicolas Junior high.

The most innovative feature of this program is the different modules the curriculum offers students to experience. The web based software is rooted in experiential, challenge based modules. Students are always hands on with the machinery and the interest level is off the charts. This program is distinct from other similar programs in that this lab is the first and only of its kind in a middle school in North America. Festo, after searching across the United States, chose Nicolas Junior High for its innovative programs and committment to computer science. The close partnership with an industry leader in manufacturing in a middle school is unique to this program.
