After School Sports
-
Welcome to the 2024 - 2025 Parks After School Sports page! We're excited to be a part of the Fullerton School District Sports League (FSDSL) again!
Students will be able to try out and have the opportunity to play on one of our Parks teams and show their Panther pride! The after school sports program is a great opportunity for students to learn sportsmanship, continue to develop their skills, and play in a competitive league against other Fullerton and local junior highs/middle schools. Our sports this year will include: co-ed volleyball, co-ed flag football, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys basketball, girls basketball, co-ed street hockey, and track and field. Seasons are approximately eight weeks long, with practices twice a week and games once a week.
Participating in the Parks After School Sports Program is a privilege. Our expectation is that students represent not only themselves to the highest standard, but also the team and the entire Parks Junior High community. All athletes participating in any Fullerton School District Sports League event must abide by all school rules, at all times. The coaching staff is looking forward to a great year of sports!

Eligibility
-
Academics come first. Students are required to maintain a 2.0 or higher during the sports season and grades will be checked regularly. Students are also required to have no more than 1 N or 1 U in order to fulfill eligibility requirements.
Character counts. As members of a Parks Junior High School sports team, student-athletes represent our school in and out of uniform, and therefore, will be held to high standards with regard to behavior. If a Parks athlete commits a suspend-able behavior infraction at school (even if the administrator in charge chooses not to impose suspension as a consequence), the athlete may be disallowed to play in a game or removed from the team. Therefore, a player who commits a serious discipline infraction may be benched or removed from the team.
Attendance
-
Players will be required to attend, and be on time, to all practices and games unless otherwise communicated with the coach beforehand. If a player misses a practice, he/she will not be eligible to participate in the first half of the next game played.
Depending on the sport and coaches, practices will mainly be from 3 - 4:15 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Thursday practices. Games will mainly be played on Wednesdays, except for some Tuesday games including semi-finals, and a championship game on Thursday or Friday.
Club sports, community service, tutoring, music practice, doctors appointments, etc., are not acceptable excuses to missing practice or leaving early from practices/games.
On game days, players are required to be present at school to be eligible to play. Players must also participate in P.E. on practice and game days.
If a player is injured or sick, he/she should still attend practices and games. Players should not attend practices if they are very sick and possibly contagious (Covid, pink eye, flu, strep throat, etc.). Players should notify coaches if they are not able to attend practice.
Practices & Game Day Reminders
-
For all AWAY games, students will have to provide their own transportation. Players will need to be picked up within 15 minutes at the end of practices and games. All home games end no later than 4:30 pm except for some games or schedule changes. For away games, the latest game will end at 6 pm.
Playing time is at the coach’s discretion.
Players should have all equipment required to play for practices and games.
No cell phones should be out at practices and games unless there is an emergency.
Focus on game day should be with the team. Players should remain with the team during warm-up, game play and cool down. Once released by the coach, team members may reunite with family and friends.
The bench is for coaches and players of Parks Junior High only. There are NO friends or family members around or on the bench during any games.
Players and spectators are to keep all comments positive. The Parks Junior High Community should not engage in negative comments towards the referees/officials, opposing side, or any participating players.
Sportsmanship
-
Be courteous and respectful of others at all times. This includes having good sportsmanship and use of appropriate language.
Communication
-
We ask that parents/guardians please refrain from post-game conversations with coaches for 24 hours.
For any questions and/or concerns, please contact Christina Chong (christina_chong@myfsd.org).
