Say Something - Anonymous Reporting
-
At Fullerton School District, we are dedicated to enhancing the safety and well-being of our students, educators, and administrators through a coordinated community effort. This involves collaboration among parents, teachers, local law enforcement, mental health professionals, and elected officials to take meaningful action in protecting our students.
We are excited to launch the “Say Something Anonymous Reporting System” (SS-ARS) district-wide. This program empowers students, teachers, and administrators to recognize warning signs of potential threats, especially on social media, and to take action by either speaking to a trusted adult or using the anonymous reporting system. The program focuses on:
- Recognizing at-risk behaviors on social media
- Taking every sign seriously and acting quickly by reporting to a trusted adult or using SS-ARS’s 24/7 Crisis Center, mobile app, or website
- Responding to tips through a team of educators and administrators
- Sustaining awareness through student clubs and school activities
Students often notice when their peers are struggling, so it's vital to empower them with the knowledge and tools to help one another, especially in the context of digital conversations. SS-ARS teaches them to identify concerning signs in texts, videos, and photos and encourages prompt action to support fellow students. The SS-ARS program is provided by Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), a national nonprofit organization with a proven track record. SHP has trained over 3.5 million students and adults in 7,000+ schools across all 50 states. Their programs are age-appropriate, research-based, and offered at no cost to the district. Past implementations of SS-ARS have successfully prevented school shootings, suicides, and bullying incidents. We are confident that this program will make a positive impact in our district as well.
