    Hours:

The Richman Elementary School Library is open during school hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Books can be returned to the Library Book Return Cart at any time. Students will attend the library during their scheduled class time. The library is also open for 5th and 6th graders on Wednesday from 10:40-10:55 AM (during their morning recess time).

    Book Checkout:

Books are checked out in one-week increments for most grades. However, 5th and 6th graders come to the library every other week.

TK - 2nd grade: Each student is allowed to check out one book.

3rd - 6th grade: Each student is allowed to check out two books.

    Renewals:

A book must be brought to the library to be renewed, and may be renewed 2 times. Additional renewals are allowed at the TLMA/ teacher’s discretion.

    Overdue Books:

Books are considered overdue 1 week after checkout (2 weeks for 5th/6th grade). Automated overdue notices are emailed to student and guardian emails every Sunday at 6 PM. Teachers receive a list of overdue books once a week, on their scheduled library day.

TK - 2nd grade: A student with an overdue book may not check out another book until their account is cleared.

3rd - 6th grade: A student with 2 overdue books may not check out another book until at least one of the books is brought back, replaced, or paid for. A student with 1 overdue book may check out a second book.

    How to Clear an Account:

Students must make a donation up to the replacement cost of the book or replace the book with another one similar in value. Parents are asked to help locate lost books as quickly as possible to reinstate their child’s library privileges. If a previously lost book is recovered and returned to the library in the original checkout condition, replacement donations will be refunded.

Unresolved Lost Books: If a book is still owed to the library after the school year ends, the student will not be able to check out a book during the next school year. The student must have a cleared account to reinstate library usage. Additionally, library usage may be revoked at the discretion of the TLMA, teacher, or office administration.

Damaged Books: All library books should be treated with care. The TLMA will assess any book returned to the library with damage. A book that is deliberately damaged will result in a pause in the students account, until a donation to replace the cost of the damaged book is made.
