A.B.C. K-3 Multiage Classroom
(Achievement Blends with Creativity)
Welcome to our busy classroom! We are a Kindergarten through Third grade multiage program located at Rolling Hills School, in Fullerton School District, in Fullerton, California.
What began in 1998 as a collaboration across campus between third-graders and kindergarten students, soon blossomed into a fully functional K-3 multiage program. There have been some changes to teachers over the years, but our philosophies stay the same.
In the 2024/2025 school year we will celebrate our 25th year...We love the bustling environment that is our classroom!
Please feel free to browse through our pages to find student work, special activities and upcoming events; plus lots of fun and educational information for parents, children, and visitors. Check out the sidebar to the left for projects that we have recently done in our classrooms. Thanks for dropping by!
Interested in our program? Please first browse the sidebar entitled "For Prospective Parents." Please contact us if you have further questions, or would like to consider our environment for your child. You'll need to schedule a walk-through during the morning work time before you can put your name on our wait list. We hope to see you soon!
Email us if you have questions about our program!

Arts Infused Curriculum
At the heart of our program is a strong art-infused curriculum, including:
DRAMA: Students participate in a new teacher-directed play each year which culminates a one-semester drama unit. (4-year cycle) Students have the opportunity to work on technical aspects of putting on a production as well as acting.
MUSIC/DANCE: Students participate in a one-trimester music/dance/rhythm strand with performances done throughout the year. (4 year cycle) Students first through third grades participate in a one-trimester music notation program, where they explore the fundamentals of reading music using Orff-style instruments. (3 year cycle).
VISUAL ARTS: Students participate in a yearlong art program each year, profiling several famous artists and styles which inspire them to create works of their own and write about them. Artistic creations are showcased in student Art Books at Open House in the spring. (4 year cycle of plays).
MUSIC/VISUAL ARTIST APPRECIATION: Students participate in a composer-artist study each year. Three artists, three composers, and one jazz musician are studied during each year. (4 year cycle)

The Classroom Environment
At the core of our philosophy is a desire to provide meaningful learning experiences for students within the framework of state and district mandated standards. District provided materials are at the center of our approach, and from there we weave in other excellent materials and activities to move children from one learning level to the next. We assess our students frequently and then teach to the next level. Students are expected to work independently for part of their day on a menu of jobs which will allow them to practice their skills. Students are also pulled into flexible learning groups for small group instruction in skill areas they have not yet mastered. Please click "About Our Classroom" on the sidebar for more information.
