Reggio-Inspired Classrooms
The phrase "Reggio-Inspired" is an adaptation of educational practices developed in Reggio Emilia, Italy. There are specific principles that guide a Reggio-Inspired classroom. Those include:
1. All children are capable of constructing their own learning.
2. Children form their understanding of themselves and their place in the world through their interactions with others.
3. Children are communicators and have many different ways of expressing themselves (especially through art).
4. The classroom environment is the third teacher.
5. The role of adults is to mentor and guide. We are co-learners.
6. Documentation makes learning visible. It is important to document a child's thoughts and process of thinking.Reggio Alliance What is Reggio Emilia?
