• Classroom Updates and Announcements

    Hello room 13 families,

    We had such a fun week!  We are so thankful for our room parents who hosted a wonderful Valentine's Day celebration for the kids!  They loved it.  Thank you as well to all the parents who were able to come help out.  We appreciate you!

    Please encourage your child to complete one FRAX mission daily if they didn't do so in class.  We are participating in a district-wide competition, and so far, Acacia is in 2nd place!  Everyone in the class must complete all 27 missions in sector one of the program by April 11. 

    We have one more field trip scheduled on March 4 to see a play at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center titled, "Fullerton: Our Town: A Little Bit Wilder".  This is  a wonderful opportunity to enrich our study of Fullerton history!  We'll leave campus around 8:45 AM and will return at 1030 AM.  Lunch will be on campus as usual.  Look for the permission slip for this trip coming home in this week's Panda Folder.  If you'd like to chaperone, we'd love to have you!  Please email us.     End of Trimester 2:  Friday, February 28

    March 10-14  Spring Parent-Teacher Conference Week These conferences are by request only.  We will send out conference notifications before February 24.  Monday, March 10-Friday, March 14 will be minimum days with dismissal at 12:30 PM.  Please mark your calendars.  Report cards will either be given out at conferences or sent home on Friday, March 14.  

    Spring Break  March 17-21

    CAASPP Testing:  All 3rd graders take the state CAASPP assessment, which is administered on the students' iPads.  Testing is set to begin the week of April 28 and extend through the second week of May.  If you are looking ahead to schedule appointments that can't take place after school, please avoid scheduling anything in the mornings before 10:00 AM.  We devote the morning block to testing during those dates, and if the kids are absent, they may have to attend make-up testing the 2nd week of May.  We find that the kids do better on the assessment when they are in class for the test. All absences, unless for illness, should be avoided during testing time.

  • Learning Highlights

    English Language Arts: We will begin our informational reading workshop.  We've begun organizing chapters for our informational pieces in writing workshop. 

    Math: We are finishing up chapter 6 this week and then we'll move on to more division and order of operations practice in chapter 7.  The children should be working at home to master their multiplication tables to ten.  10-15 minutes of practice daily is recommended.

    Science: We will begin our earth science unit and study weather

    Social Emotional Learning:  We are working in Unit 2 on Emotion Management
