Academic Pathway is designed to help you be successful in making progress toward reaching grade-level reading goals...think of it as strength training for reading and writing! Our class focuses on building up our reading skills by providing direct instruction in reading strategies, vocabulary, and writing. We use the Read 180 literacy program’s blended learning approach to provide whole-group, small-group, and 1:1 instruction, along with independent reading practice. We'll read and analyze a variety of magazines, speeches, interviews, timelines, poems, and novels. We'll also strengthen our ability to compose informative, opinion, and narrative writing pieces. And I promise we'll have some fun along the way!

A large portion of our learning relies on practice activities within the Read 180 app, so please make sure your scholar brings a fully charged iPad to class everyday. I am going to ask you to work very hard, and if you can stay positive and maintain a "can-do" attitude, you'll see an abundance of growth this year. Let's get to work!
