Weight Room Rules

You are only allowed to be inside the weight room with an instructor present.
- PE clothes and athletic shoes are required. Be sure your clothing does not restrict your movement during a lift.

Only lift the exercises you have been instructed to do. Use equipment as it is intended to be used.
- Do not touch any equipment unless you have been given permission.

No horsing around, pushing, or distracting another student.
- Respect the weight room. Stealing/vandalizing/damaging equipment will not be tolerated and will result in the immediate removal from the class.

Work with a partner that is close to the same strength and encourage each other to improve.

You must always use safety clamps when using any plates on any bars.

When using a plate loaded machine, be sure the pin is in properly/safety locks are secured.

Keep your hands away from moving parts or plates.

Always use the correct form when doing any exercise.
- Be sure to warm up correctly during the class warm-up activity.

Warm up using light weights before lifting heavier weights.

Have your partner spot you when lifting free weights.

Make sure you have room to do the lift properly.
- No wandering around the weight room. Stay in your assigned area.

No food or drink other than water is allowed in the weight room.

If a machine/equipment appears to be damaged or broken, notify the instructor.

Rack all plates and dumbbells after you use them.

If you get sweat on a bench or bar, it is your responsibility to wipe it clean after you are done.

Benches and machines are not chairs and are not to be used as such. Do your workout and move on.

Do not stay at one machine/station for a long period of time. Do your workout and move on.

If you start to feel dizzy or light headed, stop lifting and notify your instructor.

Keep the weight room clean. If you did not drop it, it is ok to be the one to help clean it up.
- No personal electronic devices.
Repeated violations of the rules will result in the removal from the class. Being in the Strength Training class is a privilege and there is a long waiting list to enter the class.
