Background

  • The Fullerton School District has a long-time commitment to creating safe and inclusive school campuses and departments for all students, staff, teachers, and families.

In 2020, the District held a listening tour to hear from parents, caregivers, guardians, and our greater community about what was needed and wanted for their child's classroom and our collective community education.

The District-wide committee on diversity, equity, and inclusion was created from this valuable feedback.  This is an effort to increase transparency regarding inclusive and culturally responsive efforts district-wide.  This committee is one way for parents, teachers, staff, and administrators to work alongside each other on common goals that support community and connection while increasing our collective awareness and knowledge of the diversity in our community.

District-wide Cultural Connectedness and Belonging Framework

  • During the 2020-21 academic year, the Fullerton School District developed and adopted the Framework for Cultivating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as an intentional guidepost for our district-wide practices.  Several departments, including all Cabinet members developed this framework.

Our Board of Trustees, district management staff, teachers, and some parents have been introduced to the framework.

Over the years, we have adjusted the framework and made it linear to reflect the steps of the thorough work process, ensuring our community feels they belong. Thus, in 2025, our new framework is the Cultural Connectedness and Belonging Framework.
