This program is important to Fullerton School District in that it brings self driving autonomous vehicles to the district. It allows students that are highly involved in computer science to experience an elevated degree of difficulty in what they have learned. Students are able to experience something that students would not see until the college level. It also connects two local partnerships to our students in a program that would not be offered anywhere else.

An innovative feature of this program is how students are able to compete in a competition meant for colleges. With the partnership of a local company, students prepare all year and compete at UC San Diego against several local colleges. This program is distinctly different than other similar programs in that students are working with many parts and what they build is at a much higher level of difficulty than other programs. Additionally, students are able to really see what building an autonomous self driving car is like. There are no other programs that deal with self driving autonomous cars like this program.
