Good Evening Fullerton School District Community,

The event in Uvalde, Texas is a sober reminder of the importance of school safety and the importance of providing our parents and community with clear communication around our safety protocols and procedures.

Months before this tragedy occurred, the Fullerton School District (FSD) was proactively seeking grants and funding to help increase campus safety and security.  In late 2020, FSD was awarded a Community Oriented Policing Services - School Violence Prevention Program (COPS - SVPP) grant that will enable our district to install security cameras at all school sites in our district. Some installations have already occurred; many more will be occurring this summer, and over subsequent months.

The security camera systems being installed are advanced “smart” security camera systems, and our local Fullerton Police Department (FPD) has been walking sites with us to help determine the best placement of cameras. The security cameras will allow school staff, in conjunction with FPD, to quickly react to any safety concerns on FSD campuses and provide evidence after an incident. We will be working with FPD to ensure they have access during any incidents to our security cameras.

The safety of our students, staff, and community remains a top priority for FSD.  We will continue to provide you with further updates regarding the installation of the security camera systems and other safety and security updates as they become available. Please reach out to your school’s principal if you have any questions.

      Thank you.
